I am always thrilled to see your name acquire a red hue on my Diaryland buddies' list - but am saddened at what you wrote today. There are certain advantages to living in the middle of nowhere. Anonymity is fleeting here; everyone soon knows you, and if they don't, you acquire interest solely by that status. It's a two-edged sword, and one I welcome, having once lived many a year in a multi-million-population center, myself.

Don't think I was clear before. Definately see the advantages to being in the middle of no where, and the double-edged nature of it. Changed the entry a little up top to make it a little more clear.

That's why New York is one of my "cool places to visit." It ends there. I could visit for a month, if I had the means by which to fuck off for that long, as long as I had somewhere like my parentals lake home to go back to.

And I almost got the alone thing while I was there. Feeling so small with so many people... and the whole patience thing. So many more people to TRY to have patience for that it runs thin by the time I'm frantically requesting the Metro Card to be cleared so I can go back through the gate I missed because someone was keeping me up until 5:30 a.m. and I'm all hungover --

Yeah, well, I'll end the desultory madness here. HI!

By far, one of my favorite entries. There are soo many things I can say about this entry and the city itself, but the wine I've acquired in my system right now won't allow for that. Blasted wine.

Interesting. I grew up in a big city, Toronto, and New York has always seemed to be just like that, only bigger. I live in a town now where everyone knows everyone, at least on a nodding basis, and while I love to visit the city to take in the things I can't find here, I'm always so happy to return to the fresh air and slow pace of semi-rural life. Beautiful entry, by the way.
